Graphic design is changing, and so am I

After taking an almost year-long step back from graphic design, I'm confident in saying that everything has changed. Not just the industry, but I have too.

I'm returning to graphic design with a refreshed mind and a boldness to pursue more than just refined layouts, but fulfilling, human-centered and purpose-driven design.

I look foward to being in the action as design continues to evolve, but most of all I can't wait to see where my ambition and pursuit of fulfilling work takes me.

Good design depends on understanding the world we’re helping build

(not so) Frequently asked questions

What is one of your favourite parts of the design process?

Circle Arrow Up.

Like many designers, I relish in a good rationale. I always appreciate when a creative design choice is backed by strong research and meaning. I believe reasoning and intentionality are the foundation of a strong design, especially as we move forward into the age of AI.

At this point in my career, I am seeking to work with a team that prioritizes reasoning and intentionality in their design process.

What do you think is the most important quality for a good graphic designer to have?

Circle Arrow Up.

As cliché as it sounds, an open mind. Not only does this apply to new ideas, industry standards and new emerging technology, I think an open mind is crucial during the design process itself.

We should be open to what our audience needs and where they’re coming from when they interact with our work. Additionally, I think feedback is one of the most valuable parts of working on a team, so being open to that is very important.

The industry is changing, the world is changing, and so should we.

What’s your graphic design hot take?

Circle Arrow Up.

I'm sure that AI will eventually be able to do some version of my job. But people will still choose human made over AI generated.

In a similar way to how anything crocheted or hand-carved is a coveted novelty, I think people will always gravitate towards something made with intention by human hands.
